In the Nikolaev region over the past year, a sharp increase in the incidence of tuberculosis and oncology has been recorded.
This was announced at the briefing by the acting Head of the Health Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Irina Tkachenko, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
«In the Mykolaiv region, a sharp increase in the incidence of tuberculosis has been recorded over the past year. In 2023, 710 patients were reported with active disease. In 2022, there were 531 of these,” Tkachenko said.
According to her, the tuberculosis incidence rate increased from 48 to 65 per 100 thousand population.
The head of the department also drew attention to , that during 2023 the region recorded an increase in cancer incidence of approximately 3.8% compared to previous years.
Experts attribute this to the consequences of a full-scale invasion and military operations in the region. After all, people did not have the opportunity to undergo diagnostic procedures and treatment in a timely manner.
Today, there are 43 thousand patients with malignant neoplasms in health care institutions.
As reported, in the Nikolaev region, medical institutions in the region are equipped with doctors by 67%, and by nursing staff – by 78%.
