Photo In the Kamenets-Podolsk city hospital in the Khmelnytsky region, the first heart transplant operation was performed.
The director of the Kamyanets-Podilsk city hospital, Boris Sirota, told an Ukrinform correspondent.
« ;For the first time, such a highly complex and urgent heart transplant took place in the Kamenets-Podolsk hospital. The heart, liver and kidneys were removed from a posthumous donor. And the heart was immediately transplanted into a recipient who came to us from Lvov,” said Sirota.
According to him, a team of almost two dozen specialists from the First Lviv Medical Association and the city hospital of Kamenets-Podolsky performed the operation. Transplant coordinator Oksana Shavlinskaya and the head of the intensive care unit Leonid Gaisenyuk took part in the transplant from local doctors.
