In the Ternopil region, a three-chamber cardioverter-defibrillator was implanted into a patient’s heart for the first time

In the Chortkiv central city hospital, a 69-year-old patient was successfully implanted into his heart with a three-chamber cardioverter-defibrillator.

This was reported by the Chortkiv City Council, reports Ukrinform.

«A 69-year-old patient from Horishna Izgnanka was successfully implanted into his heart with a three-chamber cardioverter-defibrillator. The damn surgery was performed by doctors together with specialists from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Amosova (Kyiv). The hospital received the device itself free of charge from the Ministry of Health; its cost is more than 300 thousand hryvnia, the report says.

The patient was implanted with a cardioverter-defibrillator in order to restore and normalize cardiac arrhythmias. Previously, the man suffered a heart attack twice; over time, tachycardia was added to the problems. Ultimately, he was diagnosed with a complete block of the left bundle branch, which became an indication for the implantation of a pacemaker. The patient is now feeling well and the recovery process after surgery continues.

As Ukrinform reported, the Canadian charity Maple Hope Foundation sent 50 “Moves” life support systems to Ukraine to help treat seriously wounded Ukrainians.
