Pirogov for the first time in the Vinnytsia region successfully performed cochlear implantation on a patient diagnosed with grade 2-3 sensorineural hearing loss. on both sides due to acubarotrauma and damage to the auditory analyzer, the message says.

As noted, with hearing loss of this degree, a person does not distinguish between medium and quiet sounds, sounds are distorted, problems arise with distinguishing language, this causes significant discomfort for a person in everyday life, disruption of social interaction, and significant psychological problems. In this case, the use of hearing aids is ineffective.

The only way to fill the lives of people with severe hearing loss and deafness with sounds – Cochlear implantation. This is a surgical intervention using technical means – a cochlear implant for prosthetics of a non-functioning auditory receptor of the analyzer. It allows a person to restore physically absent hearing.

Cochlear implants are intended for lifelong use.
