Last year, doctors from municipal institutions of the capital performed 147 transplants, this year – already 35.
This was announced by First Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Nikolai Povoroznik, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“In 2023, doctors from municipal institutions of the capital performed 147 transplantations. In particular, in the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1 and the Kiev City Center for Nephrology and Hemodialysis, 91 solid organs (kidney, liver, heart) were transplanted last year. In addition, at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center, doctors performed 56 hematopoietic stem cell transplants, – Povoroznik noted.
He also informed that already this year 35 transplantations have been carried out in the capital's municipal institutions. In particular – two multi-organ transplantations, during which two hearts, four kidneys and two livers were transplanted.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, five kidneys have been transplanted at the Nephrology Center, and at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center – 18 hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
«These are not just numbers, but human lives saved and motivation to work on development both for the institutions themselves and for the city, developing the medical industry, – emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration.
He added that in 2023, out of 25 medical institutions in Ukraine, the Kiev City Center of Nephrology and Hemodialysis took second place in the number of kidney transplants, and the Kiev City Clinical Hospital No. 1 – sixth.
As Ukrinform reported, in 2024, 39 medical institutions will provide transplantation services.
