Fish Fry Fundraiser on Sat., Aug. 9
The South Broadway Baptist Church, 211 S. Broadway, is holding a Building Fund Fish Fry Fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 9, starting at 5:30 pm. The menu includes Fry Fish with Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Rice, Hush Puppies, Drink & Dessert. Cost is $15.00 for Adults and $7 for ages 5-11. Chicken will be available for non-fish eaters. The sit-down dinner will include entertainment. Reserve tickets by Aug. 6. Call 410-732-8460 for more info. Sat., Sept. 6: Creative Alliance & Baltimore Blues Society present a Piedmont Blues Birthday Party
Cephas & Wiggins will present a "Piedmont Blues Birthday Party" on Sat., Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.. Joined by harmonica master Phil Wiggins, internationally known acoustic blues guitarist "Bowling Green" John Cephas will celebrate his birthday by playing the syncopated blues indigenous to the southeast Piedmont. Players Eleanor Ellis, Rick Franklin and Michael Baytop of DC's Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation will also be performing. Advance tickets tickets suggested; $20, $17 for members of the Creative Alliance and/or Baltimore Blues Society. Cash bar. This event is funded through the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation's Mid-Atlantic Tours program in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the Maryland State Arts Council's American Masterpieces Program, with additional support from the Baltimore Blues Society.
