Baltimore Area Handbell Festival on March 14
ive choirs of handbell ringers—300 bells!—will play as individual choirs and as a massed ensemble from all corners of the sanctuary. This promises to be a musical and visual treat for all ages. Tickets: $15 for adults; $5 for students; children 12 and under, free.
The program ranges from Handel’s “Thanks Be to Thee” to a rousing Dixieland arrangement of “When the Saints Go Marching In,” accompanied by clarinet, trombone and drums. Other ensemble pieces include “Prisms” by William Payne, “Proclamation of Praise” by Michael Mazzententa,” and “Triumphant Praise” by Karen Buckwalter. Also on the program are congregational hymns which the audience will sing, accompanied by the massed bell choirs, organ, brass and drums.[Download a flyer for posting]
Free Concerts on Thursday Nights at Cross Keys
Free concerts are featured in the Crossroads Lounge at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. The current focus is jazz, in collaboration with the Baltimore Jazz Alliance. A different local artist is featured each week. Parking is free.
