Usher and Chris Brown Baltimore concert canceled: How M&T Bank Stadium ticket refunds work in Maryland

The Usher and Chris Brown concert scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at M&T Bank Stadium has been canceled, according to Ticketmaster, which now lists the Baltimore show as “Event Canceled.” For fans across Maryland who bought seats for the stadium date, the key questions now are when the money comes back, what happens to resale tickets and what to do about hotels and travel.

Baltimore was one of four fall dates removed from “The R&B Tour” in the span of a day. Here is what is known, what is not, and how Maryland’s ticket law protects buyers.

Why was the Usher and Chris Brown Baltimore show canceled?

No reason specific to Baltimore has been given. The Baltimore Banner reported that Ticketmaster, tour producer Live Nation and M&T Bank Stadium did not explain the Baltimore cancellation or say whether the show would be rescheduled, and that Live Nation and stadium officials did not respond to requests for comment Friday night.

The only explanation so far came from another stop. A statement from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, as reported by the Banner, said the promoter canceled “select upcoming dates” to “prioritize the health and well-being of the touring party and crew.” A Ticketmaster email to Cincinnati ticket holders cited the same health and well-being language, WKRC Local 12 reported.

Separately, the BBC has reported that Brown is expected in a London court for sentencing on Oct. 26 after pleading guilty in a case stemming from a 2023 nightclub incident. Organizers have not linked the canceled dates to that case.

Which R&B Tour dates were canceled and which remain?

The Baltimore show was part of an eight-date stadium extension announced in mid-August, after the tour’s first 13 shows sold out. Four of those eight added dates are now off the schedule.

Dec. 6 Hard Rock Stadium Miami Not reported canceled

When the extension was announced, FOX45 reported that Live Nation said the tour had grossed more than $101 million across its first eight shows. The stadium production runs nearly three hours, with Usher and Brown alternating sets.

How do I get a refund for the Baltimore concert?

If you bought tickets directly from Ticketmaster, you should not need to do anything. In its notice to buyers for the canceled Cincinnati date, Ticketmaster said:

“Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event. You don’t need to do a thing.”

Ticketmaster said refunds go back to the original payment method once it receives funds from the event organizer. The timelines quoted so far differ: the Cincinnati notice said 14 to 21 days, while the Baltimore Sun reported that Baltimore ticket holders were told to expect their refund in about 10 business days. In practice, it is reasonable to allow up to three weeks before taking further steps.

A few practical tips:

  • Keep your confirmation email and order number. You will need them if the refund does not arrive.
  • Check the card on file. If the card you used has since been closed or replaced, contact Ticketmaster and your bank so the refund is not lost in limbo.
  • Do not sell or transfer canceled tickets. Anyone offering Oct. 17 tickets now is not selling a valid event.
  • Watch for scams. Ignore texts or emails asking you to “claim” a refund through a link or to share card details. Log in to your account through the official app or website instead.

What about resale tickets from StubHub, SeatGeek or other sites?

Here Maryland buyers have extra protection. A state law signed by Gov. Wes Moore in May 2024 and in effect since July 1, 2024, requires a ticket issuer, secondary ticket exchange or reseller that handled the sale to provide a refund if the event is canceled. The text of the law (Senate Bill 539, Chapter 456) calls for a “full refund of the total amount paid, including the price of the ticket and any fees and taxes.”

That means a fan who paid well above face value on a resale platform should expect the full amount back, fees included, from the platform that sold the ticket. The law does not set a specific deadline for that refund, so contact the platform if it does not confirm the refund on its own.

What if I booked a hotel, flight or parking?

Ticket refunds do not cover travel. Fans who booked Inner Harbor or Camden Yards-area hotels, flights or rail travel for Oct. 17 should check cancellation policies now, while free-cancellation windows may still be open. If you bought stadium parking as a separate item, confirm that it appears in your refund as well.

If a refund does not arrive or a seller refuses to pay, Maryland residents can contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division hotline at 410-528-8662 or file a complaint online through the Attorney General’s complaint portal. Buyers who paid by credit card can also ask their card issuer about a billing dispute.

Has this happened in Baltimore before?

Stadium-sized cancellations in Baltimore are rare. Chris Brown has had a Baltimore date called off before: in February 2015, a Royal Farms Arena show on the “Between the Sheets” tour with Trey Songz and Tyga was canceled because of weather, CBS Baltimore reported at the time.

M&T Bank Stadium’s non-football calendar continues. The venue is set to host Supercross on April 10, 2027.

Will the Baltimore show be rescheduled?

As of Saturday morning, no new Baltimore date had been announced, and organizers had not said whether one is planned. Ticket holders should rely on emails from the original seller and the official Ticketmaster event page for updates rather than social media rumors.
