The integration of gas distribution network operators into the structure of Naftogaz made it possible to ensure the stability of critical infrastructure and put an end to various schemes under which the state budget was shorted billions of hryvnia.
As Ukrinform reports, this was stated by the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Group, Alexey Chernyshev, the Group’s press service reports.
“Tightening the country’s energy stability is the task set by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky from the beginning of the full-scale invasion. During 2023, Naftogaz has fully completed the integration of regional gas companies and city gas companies,” Chernyshev noted.
According to him, as planned, Naftogaz has successfully completed the integration of regional and city gas companies into the Group.
Chernyshev also noted that this is a great responsibility, since at the same time the number of clients has increased significantly. However, this was a necessary step on which the stability of critical infrastructure, the operation of business and the comfort of Ukrainians depend. “Given the risks of constant shelling and possible blackouts, gas supply must be uninterrupted. I thank everyone who works to provide our cities and villages with gas,” added Chernyshev.
According to him, operational control over regional enterprises enabled the state not only to ensure uninterrupted gas supply, but also to put an end to various schemes under which the state budget was shorted billions of hryvnia.
Also, the head of the Naftogaz Group noted that according to preliminary calculations, next year contributions to the state budget by gas transmission operators will amount to more than 5 billion hryvnia.
This is not only the preservation of 50 thousand jobs and billions of deductions that will fill the state treasury. This is both an opportunity for high-quality control of gas supply and a new convenient service for almost 10 million subscribers in the form of one understandable payment card,” summed up Chernyshev.
As Ukrinform reported, Naftogaz Group gained control over four more gas distribution companies, completing the integration of regional and city gas companies.
