Tomatoes have increased in price.
This week in Ukraine the price of imported tomatoes has increased. One of the main reasons for the rise in price of this vegetable was the insufficient supply of tomatoes on the market.
This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
Experts emphasized that the rise in prices for tomatoes is facilitated by the direct rise in price of these vegetables in the most Turkey due to increased supplies to EU countries.
So, on the Ukrainian market, prices for imported tomatoes have increased by an average of 11% since the beginning of this week, and these products are offered for sale in bulk at 84-100 UAH/kg (2.15-2.56 dollars/kg).
The main market players explained that the upward trend in prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is due to increased demand for these products against the backdrop of a fairly low supply of imported tomatoes .
Analysts added that Turkish products dominate the Ukrainian market, since local greenhouse plants have not yet begun the harvest season for these vegetables.
It is worth noting that the average price for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is 50% higher than for the same period last year.
Sellers do not rule out that in the second half of April the rise in prices in this segment will stop. They explain this by the fact that then the majority of Ukrainian greenhouse plants will enter the market with a new turnover of tomatoes.
Recall that in Ukraine there is an increase in potato prices. One of the reasons for the increase in prices was the shortage of quality products.
The Ministry of Agricultural Policy believes that in 2024 prices for basic products in Ukraine will remain stable, but only those produced in Ukraine.
