Analysts attribute the price increase to a significant reduction in the supply of carrots.
The price of carrots has increased significantly in Ukraine, already twice as much as last year.
This is reported by the EastFruit publication.
The main reason for the increase in price was the reduction in production on the market due to the seasonal factor at a time when demand does not decrease.
According to the publication, growing farmers in the main production regions are shipping high-quality carrots at 12-16 UAH/kg ($0.29-0.39/kg), which is on average 32% more expensive than at the end of last week.
Analysts attribute the price increase to a significant reduction in carrot supply due to the off-season period. Now, most farmers have already harvested medium-grade carrots, while harvesting of later varieties has almost not yet begun.
“At the moment, the price of high-quality carrots in Ukraine is already on average 2.2 times higher than a year ago. At the same time, some producers plan to continue raising prices while maintaining current sales rates,” EastFruit adds.
Earlier it was reported that grain prices in the world had sharply jumped.
