NKREKU has raised the price of electricity for customers of the “last hope” supplier.
The energy regulator, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU), is changing the procedure for setting the price of electricity for consumers of the “last hope” supplier (SSP) from October 1 until the end of 2024.
This was reported by “Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to today's decision of the commission, the corresponding coefficient is being increased, which means that prices will rise.
It is specified that the regulator has increased the coefficient used to determine the price of electricity for PON consumers based on the average weighted price of electricity (EE) on the day-ahead market (DAM) from 1.25 to 1.5 for three months.
Today, the price of electricity for PON consumers for the billing month is determined taking into account the average weighted actual price of electricity on the DAM for the first 20 days of the previous billing period, increased by a coefficient that takes into account the risks of price fluctuations on the balancing market (BM) and the DAM in the amount of 1.25.
“As a result of large-scale shelling of the energy system of Ukraine, there was an increase in the cost of electricity to settle electricity imbalances. At the same time, the State Enterprise for Foreign Economic Activity Ukrinterenergo, due to acquiring the “Default” status in accordance with the Market Rules, purchases electricity for the needs of its own consumers exclusively at the BR,” the regulator's justification for the decision taken says.
We remind you that the National Bank predicts a difficult situation in the energy sector and the state budget, which will lead to a gradual increase in tariffs in the coming years.
During the war in Ukraine, there is a moratorium on increasing the cost of gas, hot water and heating. Tariffs for electricity and cold water are not subject to this ban.
However, since June 1, electricity tariffs have increased in Ukraine. Now the average electricity bill will be 734.4 UAH instead of the previous 448.8 UAH. This is due to the increase in the tariff from 2.64 to 3.32 UAH per 1 kWh.
