Greenhouse cucumbers are rapidly becoming more expensive in Ukraine. Prices have jumped due to a shortage of the vegetable, but demand remains stable, which allows prices to continue to rise.
This is reported by EastFruit.
EastFruit project analysts noted that wholesale prices for cucumbers are set in the range of 80-100 UAH/kg ($1.94-2.42/kg), which is on average 24% more expensive than at the end of the last working week. Current prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are the highest in at least the last seven years.
In connection with the current situation, many importers are already preparing to begin mass purchases of cucumbers in Turkey. Usually, imported cucumbers begin to enter the domestic market in the second half of October, when the supply of local farmers drops sharply.
It is noted that greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are now on average 29% more expensive than in the same period last year.
Experts do not rule out that wholesale prices will increase until imported cucumbers begin to enter the market en masse.
