Without raising tariffs, Ukraine will need to attract international assistance.
In just a few months, Ukraine's utility tariffs may increase significantly. In particular, for heating and water supply.
This was reported by Yuriy Korolchuk, an expert at the Institute of Energy Strategies, in a comment to Glavred.
Korolchuk notes that last year the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission tried to raise the water tariff. Then the decision was cancelled. Now a price increase is very likely, since a significant hole has formed in the state budget.
“As for heat, in some regions the current tariff reaches three to four thousand hryvnia per gigacalorie. On average, it is about two thousand hryvnia. If the increase occurs, it will be immediately large… The same is with water. If now the tariff for cold water remains in the range of 30-80 hryvnia, then in case of an increase it can also be confidently multiplied by two,” said Korolchuk.
He predicts that tariffs will increase closer to the end of this heating season, or by summer. According to him, the increase could be double. After all, over the past two years, prices for materials, salaries and fuel have increased significantly.
In addition, the electricity tariff may also increase. In 2025-2026, it may increase to 5 hryvnia.
“At first, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission considered a gradual increase to at least four hryvnia per kilowatt. The increase that occurred in the spring is greater than predicted. According to the plans for increasing the tariff for the population, which were discussed for 2025-2026, a corridor of five hryvnia was considered,” Korolchuk explains.
The expert believes that the current electricity tariff of 4.32 UAH is too high. If it is raised to 5 UAH, segmentation is possible, when people who consume large amounts of electricity will pay more.
Korolchuk believes that without raising tariffs, Ukraine will need to attract international aid or government subsidies.
Recall that People's Deputy of Ukraine from the “Voice” faction Galina Vasilchenko reported that salaries in Ukraine may decrease in 2025. This is due to the increase in military tax.
