The State Budget must be finally adopted before the end of November.
On Friday, November 8, the government approved the draft State Budget for 2025 for the second reading.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“Despite certain changes, the main priority remains unchanged – defense, defense capability and security of Ukraine. We propose to allocate UAH 2 trillion 225 billion for these needs. All funds from Ukrainian taxpayers will go exclusively to providing security and defense forces, manufacturing and purchasing new weapons, drones and equipment,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
He added that the social sphere, education and medicine remain among the budget priorities.
By the second reading, budget expenditures were increased by UAH 50 billion. In particular:
- 24 billion UAH – for education, of which 12 billion will go to additional payments to teachers and another 12 billion to investment projects in the educational sphere;
- 6.3 billion UAH – for medicine;
- 5 billion UAH – in support of veterans;
- 12.6 billion UAH – but for the repair of road sections important for defense and the functioning of the state economy.
The Prime Minister added that the road fund as a whole will not be financed in 2025. At the same time, the budget provides for expenses for the further work of the “eVidnovlennia” program and its full financing.
“This draft budget responds to the main challenges facing our state. This is our guarantee that Ukraine will have the necessary resources to withstand, win and become even stronger,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak also reported on the approval of the draft State Budget and its future fate.
“As you have already seen in the news, the Government approved the draft Budget for 2025 and will now submit it to the Rada. Next week, it will be reviewed by the Committee deputies (most likely) and a week later (at the next plenary) from November 19, it will be adopted as a whole. Thus, the norm of the Regulations on the adoption of the Budget by November 20 will be fulfilled,” the people's deputy explained.
Recall that the draft The state budget for 2025 was supported in the first reading by 247 people's deputies. According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, legislators “did not change a single amendment, except for the amendment on prosecutors' salaries.”
