Buckwheat, for example, will become 20-25% more expensive.
From the beginning of 2025, food prices will increase significantly in Ukraine, and the reasons for the price increase are not only seasonality, but also high inflation, military actions and a shortage of men.
This was reported by Doctor of Social Economics Zinoviy Svereda on the air of “Kyiv 24”.
“What bankers show, namely inflation at the level of 9.7%, we can say that, for example, buckwheat will increase in price by 20-25%, as well as any kind of food. Now you can buy not just by the kilogram, but by 10 kg. In any case, all products in winter and early spring naturally become more expensive, but due to the fact that we have high inflation, and military actions, and a shortage of men, all this will add an extra 10-15% to the price,” the expert said.
We should not expect prices to become cheaper, noted Zinovy Svereda.
“Nothing will become cheaper. Nothing at all. Because we have large expenses on the social sphere, on the army, and everything that is invested in the war is a loss. For Russia, expenses on war are an investment, because they destroy our economy. And for us, these are huge losses,” he noted.
Zinoviy Svereda also called the rise in prices for goods in Ukraine a natural process that begins during inflation and war in the country.
“It is very important that hyperinflation begins. This is where cooperation with international partners is needed, who will help us equalize the solvency of our currency,” Zinoviy Svereda said.
It should be noted that, according to the NBU, inflation has accelerated in Ukraine. Experts explained the reasons for the rise in food prices.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada is preparing amendments to the legislation to combat monopoly distributors, which will allow Ukrainians to have the opportunity to buy higher-quality medicines.
