Banks were reminded of restrictions on collecting personal data.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine informed banks about the inappropriateness of excessive requirements for disclosing banking data during the implementation of the state programs “Winter Support” and “National Cashback”.
This is stated in a letter from the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
“If a citizen is not interested in participating in the National Cashback program and plans to use this card only to receive funds under the Winter e Support program, banks should not require consent to disclose information about transactions from personal accounts or other personal data not directly related to the payment,” the statement says.
Funds under the Winter Support program in the amount of 1,000 hryvnia are credited to the National Cashback card, which can be issued at one of the program's partner banks.
The Ministry of Economy called on banks to bring their agreements with clients and other documents into line with the provided explanations.
It was also emphasized that in order to accrue 10% cashback for the purchase of Ukrainian goods under the National Cashback program, the government only needs information on transactions related to the purchase or return of the relevant goods.
The Ministry of Economy noted that a program participant gives permission to transfer transaction data only for participation in the program. This information is used exclusively to accrue cashback for relevant purchases, and the government does not require or request data on other transactions.
Recall that earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told how to correctly transfer “Zelensky's thousand” to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yes, this can be done with the help of officially registered Ukrainian charitable foundations.
