The rise in price will be influenced, in particular, by the inflation factor, which, according to forecasts, was supposed to be 9% by the end of the year, but has already exceeded 11% today.
In the winter period, Ukraine may see an increase in prices for meat, milk and vegetables. The cost of food products may increase by 10-15%.
This forecast was made by the deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denis Marchuk on the air of “Day Live”.
According to him, the rise in prices for vegetables was influenced by weather conditions, since due to the hot summer in Ukraine, a significant amount of the harvest was lost, which should have been stored and then sold on store shelves.
“In some places in the southern regions, losses reached 30%. This is a large volume, given that we have lost the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, which are partially occupied, and we cannot fill the market from there,” Marchuk noted.
Also, according to the expert, the rise in prices will be affected by the rise in the cost of electricity needed to store food, and the inflation factor, which, according to forecasts, was supposed to be 9% by the end of the year, but has already exceeded 11% today.
“Therefore, we note that in the winter period, from December to February and even until the beginning of March, prices may increase by 10-15%. This applies to products such as meat, milk, vegetables,” he said.
Denys Marchuk also predicts a winter rise in prices for fruits, which are mainly imported during this period.
“It will depend on the dollar exchange rate; if the hryvnia continues to weaken, the price offer for purchases will be more expensive,” he explained.
Recall that the National The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) forecasts inflation to accelerate in the coming months, but expects it to slow in mid-2025.
