The number of newly created sole proprietors in 2024 exceeds the number of those closed by 92 thousand.
Despite widespread statements about the mass closure of sole proprietors (SPs) due to the adoption of the resource law for financing the army, statistics show a different picture.
This was reported by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Getmantsev.
According to data as of December 1, 2024, the number of sole proprietors in Ukraine has grown to 2,076.7 thousand. Of these, 272.9 thousand are new entrepreneurs registered in 2024, which is 83.6 thousand more than at the beginning of the year.
The figures show a positive balance: the number of newly created sole proprietors in 2024 exceeds the number of closed ones by 92 thousand. In particular, over the past two months, 47.7 thousand new sole proprietors were registered, while 40.7 thousand entrepreneurs ceased their activities.
“These figures do not indicate either economic growth or a decline in the number of entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, the single tax institution has become an instrument not for the development of entrepreneurship, but for tax evasion by large and medium-sized businesses. I advise the media, who love bright headlines, to adjust them to reality,” notes Daniil Getmantsev.
He also thanked small businesses for the economic support of the state during the war.
We recall that earlier information was disseminated that after the president signed the law on increasing taxes in Ukraine, a mass closure of individual entrepreneurs was recorded. Since the law came into force, 22.5 thousand entrepreneurs have ceased their activities.
