Prices may change on the eve of the New Year holidays.
The citrus season in Ukraine began earlier, so prices for oranges and tangerines have increased, but fluctuations are possible due to supply factors and the exchange rate.
This was reported on air by the analyst of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business Maksym Hopko on “Ukrainian Radio”.
According to the expert, compared to last year, prices for citrus fruits have grown by 15-20%. The price of oranges fluctuates between 80 and 120 hryvnia per kilogram. The price of tangerines fluctuates between 90 and 120 hryvnia per kilogram.
The expert says that closer to the holidays, the price of citrus fruits may fluctuate, since there is not yet sufficient supply on the domestic market. The main reasons that may cause the price increase are weather conditions and crop failure in supplier countries.
Reasons for the price increase:
- Weather conditions and crop failure in supplier countries
- Increasing logistics costs and exchange rate fluctuations
- Gradual weakening of the hryvnia, which increases the cost of imported fruits
Maxim Gopka noted that persimmon prices have risen by 20-30 percent this year, which is caused by crop failure in the countries from which Ukraine imports these products – Turkey, Spain and Israel.
Earlier it was reported that in December 2024 vegetables may rise in price by up to 15%, and fruits – up to 10%. In particular, the price of white cabbage may rise to 33 hryvnia, onions – to 20 hryvnia, and potatoes – to 37 hryvnia.
Meat prices will traditionally continue to rise before the New Year. Before the holidays, prices for these types of meat may increase by up to 9%.
