Demand for carrots has increased.
In Ukraine, carrot producers are raising prices for their products. One of the reasons was the growth in demand for carrots among wholesale companies and retail chains.
This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
Experts noted that since the beginning of the current week, carrots have increased in price to 23-30 UAH/kg ($0.55-0.71/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered batches of products, which is on average 15% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
Producers cite several reasons for the rise in carrot prices.
“First of all, the upward price trend is associated with a noticeable reduction in the supply of substandard products, since supplies from unequipped warehouses have fallen to a minimum. At the same time, demand for carrots remains quite active,” the report says.
Analysts added that some large farms are still holding back the sale of this high-quality root crop.
In In particular, on December 26, carrots in Ukraine were already on sale at an average price of 2.6 times higher than in the same period in 2023.
According to market operators, the rise in prices did not contribute to a decrease in demand for carrots.
Earlier it was reported that in December 2024 vegetables may rise in price by 15%, and fruits – up to 10%.
Meat prices will also traditionally continue to rise before the New Year.
