There are a number of grounds for terminating pension payments in Ukraine.
In Ukraine, it is entirely legal to terminate pension payments in some cases.
The Pension Fund explained who may be at risk.
Article 49 of the Law “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance” states that pension payments may be terminated by decision of the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund or the court.
Main grounds:
- payments were assigned on the basis of documents containing false information
- the pensioner lives abroad (if there is no international treaty recognized as binding by the Verkhovna Rada)
- the pensioner filed an application to terminate payments due to temporary residence abroad
- the pensioner died, was declared missing or declared dead
- the pensioner was granted the status of a missing person under special circumstances
- payments have not been received for six months
- the pensioner has not passed physical identification
It was previously reported that additional financial support for pensioners, in particular Chernobyl victims, will be provided in 2025.
