Carrot prices are significantly higher than last year.
Carrot prices continue to rise at Ukrainian markets and in stores. This trend has been going on for several weeks now. A kilogram of vegetables costs 25-32 UAH.
This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
It is noted that last week a kilogram of carrots was much cheaper – 10% less.
Experts say the main reason for the price increase is that local producers are running out of quality vegetable stocks. Some producers have already completed the carrot stock sale season. Now farmers are offering the remaining lots for sale or are refusing to sell at all, because they hope that prices will rise even more closer to spring.
Currently, the price of carrots is on average 2.3 times higher than at the beginning of January 2024. In particular, this is due to a reduction in the harvest due to weather anomalies in the summer.
It is noteworthy that in supermarkets, prices for carrots start at UAH 29.5.
Recall that garlic prices in Ukraine have reached a historical maximum. Since mid-December 2024, its cost has confidently crossed the UAH 200 per kilogram mark.
