Cabbage, carrots and apples have increased in price the most.
By the beginning of 2025, prices for most vegetables and fruits in Ukraine have increased compared to the same period in 2024. However, for some goods, there was a decrease in prices.
This was reported by analysts at EastFruit.
It is known that the average price increase for fruit and vegetable products had an insignificant difference from the annual inflation rate, which indicates a certain stabilization of the market.
Significant fluctuations occurred in such products as cabbage, carrots and apples. Cabbage has tripled in price due to a decrease in production volumes, and carrot prices have increased almost 2.6 times and reached 26 UAH/kg. Apples, due to high crop losses in Europe and an increase in prices for apple concentrate, have risen in price by 79%, they cost 25-28 UAH/kg.
“Apple prices have risen sharply in all European countries, which is due to significant crop losses as a result of unfavorable weather conditions. Another reason for the price increase is high prices for apple concentrate, which support high prices for low-quality apples. Accordingly, the fresh apple market has lost its most affordable segment, which has allowed prices for medium and high-quality apples to rise,” noted economist Andriy Yarmak.
A similar situation was observed with pears, the price of which on the Ukrainian market has increased by an average of 70% over the year.
In addition, tangerines have become significantly more expensive, with a price increase of 58%. Other products have also become more expensive: potatoes by 30%, sweet peppers and grapes by 20%. At the same time, prices for onions and greenhouse tomatoes remained at last year's level, and greenhouse cucumbers have become cheaper by 5%. The biggest decrease in prices was for bananas – by 8%.
Recall that according to the forecasts of MP Ivan Chaikovsky, an increase in prices for basic products should be expected already in the spring.
