The exchange rate of the dollarin Ukraine soared to a record high – the American currency costs 42.28 UAH. The euro costs 43.55 UAH. Where is it better to invest money – in the American or European currency during 2025?
Financial analyst Andrey Shevchishin told about this in a commentary to RBC Ukraine.
According to him, in the first half of the year it is better for Ukrainians to buy dollars, and in the second – euros. However, he notes, everything will depend on the development of the situation in the country.
“For the first half of the year and the coming months, I would recommend investing in the dollar. It looks more attractive than the euro, since the euro is now under pressure,” Shevchishin said.
The expert notes that the hryvnia will be weak in the first half of 2025. Then stabilization is possible, provided there is a good harvest and the agricultural sector is active. In the fall, the national currency may begin to weaken again.
“About investments: in the first three months of 2025, it is the dollar. Then, since Ukraine is moving to negotiations, Europe will have an economic recovery. This will support the euro in the second half of the year, and then the euro may become more attractive than the dollar. At the same time, the hryvnia will weaken in all scenarios. But we will need to monitor the situation,” the financial analyst said.
He believes that the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar may reach 43-44 UAH and stabilize at 45 UAH by summer. By the end of the year, the rate may rise to 47 UAH per dollar.
If the war continues until 2026, this will affect the euro, which will remain under pressure, and the dollar will outperform the European currency throughout the year, Shevchishin says.
Recall that in Ukraine recently the hryvnia has collapsed to a record low. Moreover, experts predict further devaluation of the national currency.
