Finance Ministry is preparing new taxes for digital platforms: Forbes found out who will be affected

They want to get 10 billion UAH annually from Uklon, Bolt, Glovo and other services.

Ukraine is preparing a bill on taxationdigital platforms such as Uklon, Bolt and Glovo, which could add UAH 10 billion annually to the budget.

This was reported by Forbes.

The basic tax rate will likely be 5%, and the platforms themselves will act as tax agents, automatically withholding tax from users' income.

According to the plan, the government should submit the bill to parliament in April. The main idea is to create an automatic international exchange of information on income received through digital platforms. Ukraine will join the global tax information exchange network, which covers more than 29 countries.

The bill affects companies providing services through digital platforms. In Ukraine, these are primarily Uklon, Bolt, Glovo and other services.

According to the head of the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danylo Getmantsev (Servant of the People), the new tax rules will ensure income transparency and attract up to UAH 10 billion annually to the budget.

Currently, two taxation options are being discussed:

  • self-employed individuals file declarations and pay taxes themselves
  • platforms that will automatically withhold taxes from the earnings of their users become tax agents

Recall that on October 10, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on increasing taxes as a whole. In particular, for some Ukrainians, the military tax will increase from 1.5 to 5%. What and how much each Ukrainian and business will now pay for – read on TSN.ua.
