Pensioners who worked in a list of certain industries are exempt from paying for gas supply and solid fuel.
Some pensioners in Ukraine may not pay for certain housing and communal services. This depends on their profession and place of residence.
This is provided for by the government decree on the “Procedure for providing benefits to certain categories of citizens taking into account the average monthly total family income.”
Which pensioners may not pay for utilities
According to the decree, pensioners living in rural areas may not pay for utilities.
Pensioners also have the right to certain benefits that allow them to receive certain services at a discount or for free.
Benefits are available to pensioners who worked in the following sectors before retirement: education (teachers), librarianship, medicine, culture. These pensioners are exempt from paying for gas and solid fuel.
In addition to benefits, pensioners can also apply for a housing subsidy, which will allow them to pay less for utilities. This is additional support for those with limited income.
Additional benefits for pensioners
Pensioners in Ukraine are entitled to additional benefits, including free travel on public transport, except for the metro and taxis.
Elderly people can receive free primary and secondary legal assistance. This is provided that the pension is less than UAH 4,722 or less than UAH 6,056 for people with disabilities.
Pensioners have the right not to pay land tax for plots of land that meet the standards defined by Ukrainian legislation. These land benefits apply only if the area of the plot does not exceed the legally established boundaries.
