At the moment, a significant increase in egg prices in Ukraine is not expected.
Poland is still experiencing an outbreak of bird flu, which has led to a shortage of eggs on the domestic market. Ukrainian producers can increase export volumes, as our country is one of the largest suppliers of eggs to the European Union.
This was reported by analyst of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB) association Maksym Gopko.
“Increasing the supply of eggs by Ukrainian producers to Poland is a possible option, since Ukraine is the largest exporter of eggs to the European Union. The UK is second in terms of export volumes to the EU, and Argentina is third. If larger problems with eggs arise on the Polish domestic market, Poland may increase the volume of supplies of this product from Ukraine to stabilize the situation, but this will still depend on Poland's domestic policy,” the statement says.
However, he noted that at the moment, a significant increase in egg prices in Ukraine is not expected.
“If our country has normal trade relations with partner countries and can satisfy their needs for eggs, this will lead to increased exports, and perhaps a short-term insignificant increase in price. A serious increase in egg prices in Ukraine is not expected in the near future. Currently, the number of chickens in our country is the same as last year, and with the onset of warm weather, the capacity for egg production at poultry farms will increase,” the expert noted.
Among the factors that could affect the cost of eggs in Ukraine, Gopka highlighted foreign economic activity, possible outbreaks of bird flu in other countries, the cost of feed and increased demand due to the approach of Easter.
Let us recall that onion prices have fallen to their lowest level in the last 4 years.
