A new scheme to deceive citizens at exchange points has been exposed in Ukraine.
The Verkhovna Rada Committee received complaints from citizens that some exchange offices in Ukraine set different dollar exchange rates depending on the year of its issue.
This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Getmantsev.
The audit showed that the situation is even worse than it seemed at first: in addition to abuses in legal exchange offices, illegal exchange points are actively operating, which do not pay taxes and operate without licenses.
It is noted that illegal exchangers operate openly in many cities and have bright advertising signs that effectively “call” on law enforcement officers to pay attention to them.
However, according to the committee, the National Police is not taking any action, which allows this shadow business to flourish.
The Committee officially appealed to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the National Police with a demand to conduct inspections and immediately punish violators of the law.
“People should not lose tens of thousands of hryvnias due to fraudsters' machinations,” the committee representatives emphasized.
Let us recall that the National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for Tuesday, March 4. Thus, compared to the previous day, the value of the US dollar has increased by 16 kopecks and is 41.59 hryvnia.
