Should Ukrainians expect an increase in the minimum wage: MP gave an answer

There will be no increase in the near future, noted MP Bohdan Kitsak and explained the reason.

The increase in the minimum wage in Ukraine has been frozen due to a memorandum with the IMF.

This was reported by People's Deputy, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development Bohdan Kitsak on the air of “Novosti.LIVE”.

“Its increase (minimum wage – ed.) will have a significant impact on the budget, because it will entail a revision of civil servants' salaries. Therefore, there will be no increase in the near future,” said MP Kitsak.

The minimum wage is a guaranteed amount of remuneration that the employer is obliged to pay the employee for the work done. In 2025, the minimum wage is 8,000 UAH.

Let us recall that earlier the Verkhovna Rada discussed the possibility of increasing it :

  • from April 1 – up to 9,100 UAH (55 UAH/hour);
  • from July 1 – up to 10,100 UAH (61 UAH/hour);
  • from October 1 – up to 11,184 UAH (68 UAH/hour).

These changes were intended to improve the financial situation of citizens, but the increase was only possible after a corresponding decision by the authorities, which was not made.
