In just one week, cucumbers have increased in price by an average of 10%.
Over the past week, a trend towards rising prices for greenhouse cucumbers has been established in Ukraine. This rise in price is caused by the traditionally high spring demand from buyers, when after winter there is a particular desire for fresh vegetables.
This was reported by analysts of the East Fruit project.
Analysts note that the supply of local greenhouses was quite limited, and over the past week the selection of cucumbers in greenhouses has noticeably decreased, in contrast to demand, which is only growing.
“Today, Ukrainian greenhouse plants are ready to ship vegetables in the range of 85-125 UAH/kg, which is on average 10% more expensive than at the end of the last working week,” the publication says.
Sellers note that the price increase is not only due to the capabilities of local producers. Also, supplies of Turkish cucumbers have been reduced to a minimum.
Because there is not enough product to satisfy demand, both producers and sellers are raising prices. At the same time, in the same period last year, the price of greenhouse cucumbers was even higher by about 10%.
However, analysts are confident that the rise in cucumber prices will soon stop and they will start to become cheaper. This is explained by the fact that local producers are expected to increase the selection of cucumbers in greenhouses.
Let us recall that problems on the Polish market may lead to a short-term increase in egg prices in Ukraine, but no significant price increase is predicted.
