Russia remains the largest supplier of oil to India.
Of the 2.8 billion euros the US spent on fuel imports from six refineries in India and Turkey, about 1.3 billion euros was for products made from Russian oil.
This was reported by The Moscow Times with reference to a report by the analytical center Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA).
Thanks to this, Russia received about 750 million euros in tax revenue from exporting such fuel to the United States. The volume of gasoline supplied amounted to 294 million euros – enough to fill almost every car in Florida, according to analysts.
The factories of India's richest billionaire Mukesh Ambani supplied the US with oil products worth 2 billion euros, of which 724 million euros was refined oil from Russia.
In 2024, this Indian businessman's company, Reliance Industries, signed a long-term contract with Rosneft for the supply of oil worth $12-13 billion per year for a period of 10 years.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Russian company will ship up to 500,000 barrels of oil per day, which is about half of all Rosneft's seaborne shipments from Russian ports.
A Reliance spokesman said Russia remains India's largest oil supplier.
Recall that the United States blocked Canada's proposal to create a working group within the G7 that would deal with Russia's “shadow fleet” involved in transporting Russian oil.
