Ukraine has limited the import of vantage from Slovakia through the foot-and-mouth disease

Photo In Slovakia, foot-and-mouth disease was recorded, through which a restriction was introduced on the import of low-quality goods from this country to Ukraine.

The deputy head of the State Service of Ukraine for the safety of grub products and the safety of livestock, the head state veterinary inspector Volodymyr Kusturov, reported on Facebook, reports Ukrinform.

“To prevent the introduction of the disease (foot-and-mouth disease – ed.), there is a ban on the importation into Ukraine of Slovakia’s vegetables, the excrement of edible animals, genetic material, cheese and animal products,” says the source.

Kusturov noted that for the first time in ten years, foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks have been recorded in Europe: in 2025, the virus appeared in Nimechchyna, in Bereznya – in Ugorshchina, and at the same time in Slovakia. This indicates the spread of the virus, and the main goal is to prevent its penetration into Ukraine.

In Ukraine, efforts are also being made to monitor the situation in other countries where cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been recorded.

The Association of Milk Producers (AVM) stated that a new type of infection was detected on a farm with 279 heads of great horned cattle near the Danube Strada region, which borders the Ugorshchina and is already included in the zone boundary, repaired after the front sleepers. The emergence of a new center has made it possible for the authorities to adjust the boundaries of intermediate approaches, expanding the 3-kilometer zone for protection and the 10-kilometer zone for visibility.

According to the data of the Slovak farmers, the development of the new center coincides directly with the flow of the Danube River, which can be seen about the spread of the virus across the region. This hypothesis itself is immediately seen as the most credible reason for the increase in illness.

As it was reported, according to the World Animal Health Organization (WOAH) and the EU, in the territory of Ugorshchina, foot-and-mouth disease was recorded in the beds of animals, through which a restriction on imported goods from this region was introduced Ukraine.
