President Volodymyr Zelensky suspects that Congress will soon come up with a bill that would impose stronger sanctions against the Russian Federation through their inevitable end to the war.
The head of the state stated this at a briefing today, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We believe that the received States will not agree to lift the sanctions, but will instead save money for their strengthening. The brutal strikes and today's ballistic strike are proof that strong sanctions against Putin are needed. Let them stop, accept, stop the hot phase of this war,” Zelensky said, responding to Ukrinform.
We assume that in the near future the Congress may have a second initiative.
“Since the new law has not yet been registered in Congress, then, I think, the new law will be very strong in the near future. We really appreciate it. (…) They told us about this, about strengthening the sanctions pressure on the Russians, for those who don’t want to end the war,” the President said.
According to his information, “America is close to its final entry.”
As reported to Ukrinform, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on 13 February confirmed the readiness of the high-ranking administration in Washington to enforce sanctions against Russia “without any fuss” until the highest level in whenever necessary.
