Once control over ZAES is renewed, its launch will require two sources - the core of Energoatom

It will take two steps to restart the Zaporizka nuclear power plant after returning it under Ukrainian control.

About this, stating v.o. The head of the board of NAEK Energoatom, Petro Kotin, in an interview with The Guardian, conveys to Ukrinform his messages to the company’s press service.

“Restarting the occupied Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant under Russian control will not be safe. And Ukraine will need two more peacetime moments to restore control over the station,” Kotin said.

It appears that there are serious problems for updating the work of the ZAES: lack of cooling water, personnel and external power supply.

Kotin said that Energoatom is ready to restart the station, but for this it is necessary to withdraw Russian troops, dismantle and demilitarize the Maidan. In addition, the facility can be put into operation only after the completion of 27 safety programs approved by the Ukrainian nuclear regulator, including a program for testing nuclear fire in the reactor core.

As reported, NAEC Energoatom calls it unacceptable to continue the operation of the Zaporizkaya nuclear power plant in the minds of the occupation and considers it technically impossible for the Russians to restart the station.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that Russia is “professionally” managing the occupied Ukrainian nuclear power plant and that restarting the station could be possible for months after a potential settlement I'll smell it.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decides to condemn Russia's attempts to legitimize illegal control over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and calls on the IAEA to use all obvious mechanisms to strengthen the pressure on RF.
