Indices on American markets reacted to the immediate increase after US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he would pause the process of introducing new tariffs on imports, except for goods from China.
AR reports this, Ukrinform reports.
“The S&P 500 stock index (which includes approximately 500 US stock companies with the highest capitalization – ed.) was up 7.8% in the other half of the day,” says the source.
The middle of the S&P 500 is still down and is wary of Trump's trade war, as well as economists being wary of what could lead to a recession. However, after a drastic change in the White House’s policy, it also reacted in a positive direction.
In addition, the Dow Jones Industrial Average immediately after Trump's announcement about the 90-day pause moved by 2476 points, or by 6.6%.
The Nasdaq composite index also increased by 9%.
As reported by Ukrinform, the US President announced on Wednesday that he would put on a 90-day pause on the implementation of new broad tariffs, as soon as the order was restored on Wednesday. However, he also noted that he is pushing up the mint rates for China to 125%.
