A sharp rise in wholesale prices for table beets is being observed in the Ukrainian market. According to analysts from the EastFruit project, the current price level ranges from 22 to 32 UAH/kg ($0.53–0.77/kg), which is 16% higher than at the end of the previous week. Compared to the same period last year, prices have increased 2.5 times, reports the Baltimore Chronicle with reference to EastFruit.

The main reason behind the price surge is the reduced supply of beets of satisfactory quality on the market. Producers are limiting sales, anticipating further price increases, which leads to a shortage of products. Supermarkets and wholesale companies are already reporting difficulties in purchasing large batches of beets.

Market participants predict that the upward trend in prices will continue in the near future.
