According to him, the Czech Republic needs to take concrete steps to allow the country to enter the eurozone.

“It’s time, after many years, to start taking concrete steps that will lead us to fulfill this obligation. Despite the endless discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of the euro, for a country with an open and export economy located in the center of Europe, a common currency is the logical future,” added the head of the Czech state.

The Czech Republic is one of seven EU member states that does not use the euro as its national currency.

The country pledged to enter the eurozone back in 2004, when it became a member of the European Union.

Last year, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said that the country will not switch to the euro under his government. He considers such a move “unrealistic right now.”
