New SEP

The regulator explains this growth by the fact that a new generation system began operating in April last year, which speeded up payments and also made them more convenient and secure.

“This was one of the largest migrations ever carried out financial institutions of Ukraine, as well as a powerful impetus for the future development and modernization of information systems of Ukrainian banks and financial institutions,” the message says.

Taking this into account, on average, about 1.24 million payments in the amount of about 617 billion UAH were processed in the EPS over the past year. At the same time, the system is capable of processing almost 10 times more payments in one day than the current volumes.

There are more payments on weekends

In addition, since the introduction of round-the-clock mode During the operation of the system, there was a growing trend in customer demand for the use of SES on weekends. Thus, if in April 2023 the number of payments, including on Saturdays, averaged about 200 thousand, then in December it doubled.

Also in October 2023, the possibility of making payments through EPS was implemented for the first time using payment accounts of users of the non-bank payment service provider NovaPay LLC – through a bank that is both a participant in the system and a servicing bank for this company.

Traditionally, the vast majority of payments last year were sent to the system by Ukrainian banks and their branches — 96% of the total number of payments.
