Musk said that OpenAI promised to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of all humanity, but it allegedly abandoned this mission and “became a subsidiary of Microsoft.”
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in a San Francisco court, states that in 2015, Sam Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman approached Musk and agreed to create a non-profit laboratory that would develop artificial intelligence. Musk's lawyers said OpenAI's focus on maximizing profits for Microsoft violates that agreement.
OpenAI and Microsoft have not yet commented on this information.
