The Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached a preliminary agreement on the continuation of measures to liberalize trade for Ukraine in the context of the Russian war. This is stated in a message posted on the website of the European Parliament.

“The temporary suspension of import duties and quotas on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU will be extended for another year, until June 5, 2025, in order to support Ukraine in the conditions of an aggressive Russian war,” noted in Brussels.
That’s why At the same time, the European Commission “may take swift action and introduce any measures it deems necessary if Ukrainian imports lead to significant disruption on the EU market or on the markets of one or more EU Member States.”
According to the current regulations, “emergency braking” can be used “for particularly sensitive agricultural products, namely poultry, eggs and sugar.” Members of the European Parliament achieved the expansion of this list to include oats, corn, cereals and honey.

They have also secured strong commitments from the EU to deal with a surge in wheat imports from Ukraine.
