“Aid from the G7 and EU countries has become a key part of the budget support, which since February 24, 2022 amounts to about 72 billion US dollars. This is a very significant contribution to the financial stability of Ukraine in conditions of uncertainty due to the war. The support of the G7 countries is not limited to budgetary funding. It also includes significant military, humanitarian assistance and sanctions against the aggressor country,” noted Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has attracted about $83.7 billion to the state budget. external financing. The largest donors are the EU, US, IMF, Japan, Canada, UK and the World Bank.
With active hostilities continuing, international support is critical. About half of government spending or more than 22% of GDP is allocated to defense and defense.
The Ukrainian government finances this part of the budget needs from internal revenues. At the same time, the support of international partners is necessary to ensure timely provision of social expenditures. Marchenko told his partners about this during the meeting.
