The two companies have begun negotiations on the terms of a potential agreement and a way to include OpenAI functionality in Apple's next iPhone operating system, iOS 18.
Apple is also in talks to license a chatbot Google Gemini for new iPhone features.
But Apple has not yet decided which partners it will use, and may reach an agreement with both OpenAI and Alphabet, or agree with a third company.
