This decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the Assembly of the International Cooperation Account for Chernobyl, together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management.

“This is the first step in our cooperation with partners to resume the functioning of the NSC Arch in normal mode after the Russian attack on February 14,” Grinchuk noted.

The funds will be used for an expert assessment of the consequences of a Russian UAV hitting the protective shell of the Arch.

According to her, during the meeting they also discussed the preliminary results of the damage assessment and further steps to resume the operation of the shelter.

Grinchuk added that the main thing is to conduct a high-quality analysis and unite donors for further development. After all, eliminating the consequences of Russian aggression will probably require more funds than are currently available in the International Cooperation Account for Chernobyl.

Let us recall

On the night of February 14, a Russian attack drone with a high-explosive warhead hit the shelter of the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The radiation background did not increase.
