Unemployment in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development fell to 4.8% in January, compared with 4.9% in the previous five months in a row, the OECD said in a report.

This level is a historical minimum, which was first recorded in March 2023.
In nineteen countries, unemployment in January remained unchanged from the previous month. An increase was noted in three countries, and a decrease in eleven.
Unemployment is below 3% in five countries (Japan, Israel, Mexico, Poland and the Czech Republic). Only Spain has a double-digit rate (10.7%).
The number of unemployed people in the OECD fell to 34.017 million in the month before last, compared with 34.346 million in December.
Unemployment among women fell to 5.1% from 5.2%, and among men to 4.6% from 4.7%. The rate among young people (aged 15 to 24) fell to 10.9% from 11% in December.
