Due to the consistently low demand for this product, which has been observed on the tomato market over the past few weeks, importers have been forced to reduce supply volumes.
As a result, the supply of Turkish vegetables on the Ukrainian market has significantly decreased, which, against the backdrop of growing demand, has provoked another price increase in this segment.
Tomato prices
Thus, prices for greenhouse tomatoes were formed in the range of 85-95 UAH/kg ($2.05-2.29/kg), which is on average 13% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
At the same time, prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine are already on average 22% higher than for the same period last year.
Experts explain this price trend by the reduction in the supply of imported tomatoes in Ukraine, the main supplier of which is Türkiye, which is associated with a decrease in imports from this country due to seasonal factors.
At the same time, market participants did not rule out further price increases if tomato supplies from Turkey to Ukraine do not resume in the near future.
It is also reported that sales in local greenhouse complexes will not begin before mid-April.
