In order to double its GDP after the war, Ukraine needs to attract an additional 4.5 million workers. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshev in an interview with BBC Ukraine.

He recalled that almost from the first years of independence, Ukraine began to lose population. There were no military threats, and the reasons for changing residence were exclusively socio-economic. After the start of a large-scale invasion – by the end of 2024 – no more than 32 million people remained in the controlled territory of Ukraine.
He noted that given this trend, it is already necessary to think about attracting an additional 4.5 million workers to double Ukraine's GDP after the end of the war. The solution to this problem should be facilitated by the national unity strategy.
“It consists of creating conditions for strengthening public integration, Ukrainian identity and involvement in Ukrainian society – both in Ukraine and abroad. It actually lays the foundations and reinforces the actions and programs implemented by the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine,” Chernyshev emphasized.
