The relevant changes are provided for by the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Compulsory State Social Insurance”, adopted in December 2024.
“Amendments have been made to paragraph two of part one of Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Compulsory State Social Insurance’, which provide for the provision of temporary disability, maternity and childbirth benefits to insured persons (including those who carry out entrepreneurial or other activities and simultaneously work under an employment contract),” the statement says.
This rule will apply to insurance events that occur from April 4, 2025.
At the same time, the amendments do not provide for restrictions on the number of part-time jobs for which Ukrainians have the right to receive insurance payments.
In this case, if a person has lost the ability to work due to an accident and is in an employment relationship with another insurer (at another place of work, somewhere where the accident occurred), such an insurer pays the victim for the first five days of temporary disability at their own expense. The amount of payment is 100% of the average salary (taxable income), regardless of the employee's insurance record.
From the sixth day of temporary disability, funding for sick leave is provided by the Pension Fund.
