According to him, it will increase the annual throughput capacity of the Ukrainian-Hungarian section of the western border by more than 70 thousand cars and 220 thousand pedestrians.
“This is part of a comprehensive policy to modernize border infrastructure. Our goal is to upgrade 29 checkpoints and build 17 new ones by 2030,” the prime minister said.
Also part of the changes on the western border will be the launch of joint customs and border control with neighboring states, updating the technical base, and further digitalization.
The checkpoint is designed for the registration of passenger cars up to 3.5 tons. It will be open during the day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, the Ministry of Community and Territory Development reports.
It is planned that the new checkpoint will be able to cross 200 cars and 600 pedestrians per day. It is expected that in a year “Velyka Palad” will increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Hungarian border section by 73 thousand cars and 220 thousand pedestrians.
At the checkpoint there will be two lanes in the direction of entry and exit from Ukraine.
Let us recall
In December last year, the Luzhanka-Beregsurany checkpoint with Hungary became accessible to empty trucks weighing over 7.5 tons.
The road infrastructure at this checkpoint has already been completed. The work was financed by the European Union and carried out with the support of the International Organization for Migration.
In total, there are 5 automobile checkpoints operating with Hungary, the largest of which is “Chop-Zahony”, the only one designed for crossing by trucks over 7.5 tons, transporting goods.
