As it turned out, from the very beginning of the year, citizens have acquired the right to acquire ownership of up to 10 thousand hectares of land.
Interest in the land market began on July 1, 2021. Until 2024, only individuals, citizens of Ukraine, had the right to purchase agricultural land, and there was a limit of 100 hectares per person.
The law also prevents foreigners from making transactions with land. In accordance with the law, foreigners can acquire Ukrainian land plots only after a corresponding decision has been made in a national referendum. However, the exact date of the referendum remains uncertain.
It is known that on December 21, 2023, Dmitry Razumkov and a group of people’s deputies introduced a bill to the Verkhovna Rada aimed at delaying the opening of the land market for the participation of legal entities and increasing the maximum amount purchased in ownership of plots of land by one person. The deputies are in favor of postponing the introduction of these norms until January 1, 2025, seeking to more carefully consider their impact on society and the economy.
