Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets said during the telethon that the physical condition of all the military personnel who were returned from captivity is poor.
One of the Ukrainian soldiers, who was released on Wednesday, January 3 as part of a prisoner exchange, reported abuse from the Russians. In particular, the Russians took out a Ukrainian several times, allegedly for exchange, and then returned him again and assured that our state had abandoned him.
«Me today one guy reported that he was taken out several times, allegedly for exchange, and then returned and told that Ukraine had abandoned him», — he reported.
According to Lubinets, in fact, the Russian side never agreed on an exchange.
«I record this as physical and psychological torture of a person. We all understand how a person feels who is first told that he is going for an exchange, and then returned», — the ombudsman added.
Recall that it was previously reported why the Russian Federation suddenly agreed to a large exchange of prisoners: ISW clarification.
